Filipa SerĂ´dio Pinheiro was one of the workshop leaders at the event organised by the Faculty of Law of the Portuguese Catholic University.
One of the measures set out in Law No. 56/2023 of 6 October (More Housing Programme), as a means of addressing Portugal’s housing crisis, is to foster a new generation of cooperativism.
It is within this context that the workshop Housing Cooperatives: Back to the Future was held, as part of the Postgraduate Programme in Real Estate Law at the Faculty of Law of the Portuguese Catholic University.
The course was delivered by Deolinda Meira, associate professor at the Porto Accounting and Business School, and Filipa Serôdio Pinheiro, legal director of MOME, with moderation by Ana Afonso, associate professor and coordinator of the postgraduate programme.
According to the organisers, it is essential to revisit the study of a century-old foundational structure—housing cooperatives—somewhat consigned to oblivion, in order to build a future of dignified and affordable housing.
