Pedras.coop is located in Lavadores, Vila Nova de Gaia, just 500 metres from the mouth of the Douro River. This private housing cooperative comprises 13 terraced houses, each with three bedrooms and a living room, with a private garage, garden and swimming pool.
The cooperative model allows to accommodate each member’s financial capacity through a simplified process, underpinned by a project designed to offer homes at cost price, with MOME providing professional management of the cooperative.
The development has a projected budget of €8.4 million and an estimated completion period of 24 months, with the homes expected to be ready for occupancy in 2027.
The architectural design is conceived to create interconnected spaces that foster family interaction and create a strong relationship between the interior of the house and the garden. The spatial layout, based on courtyard-style houses, allows for a hybridisation of areas, enhancing the connection between indoor and outdoor living spaces. The ground floor houses the social areas, including the kitchen, dining room, and living room, while the upper floor contains the private areas, providing greater tranquillity and privacy.
The architectural project is delivered by Cerejeira Fontes Architects, a company founded in 1996 and based in Braga, specialising in architecture, urban planning, interior design, engineering, project management, and construction supervision.
Their portfolio includes high-scale and complex projects, and the studio’s work has been recognised in multiple national and international competitions and awards.
